This series delves into the foundational human inclination—the desire to create a sense of home. It is inspired by the determination required to establish a dwelling, including the oxymoronic and imperfect nature of those first attempts.
The artist draws on childhood memories of his parents building their home and his current experience of shaping his own living space, weaving these narratives to examine the evolving meanings of connection and place.
‘An Unfinished House Has Many Views’ also reflects on the contemporary challenges of seeking and securing a dwelling amidst today’s housing crisis. Through an interplay of memory, aspiration, and humor, this project invites viewers to contemplate the multifaceted journey of finding and defining one’s place in the world.
